Make Your Health a Priority!

“If only I had your motivation Jane…” – My Response “It’s not easy…but I CHOOSE to make it a priority and do it”

What makes you wake up and go to work every morning despite the fact that you might not like your job?

Definitely NOT motivation but the fact that you need the paycheck to survive. You suck it up, drag yourself to work because you have NO CHOICE!

That’s the same attitude you need when it comes to fitness and really ANYTHING in life. You have to make it serious enough, important enough to want to go all the way!

We’re all born with motivation, however, we choose when to turn it on and when to turn it off. For things we like, we’re highly motivated, but for things we don’t like we drag our feet or hit the off switch.

People complain all the time  about how they need to lose weight and look fit, but when provided instructions on how to get there they have a whole bunch of excuses; “that is not my thing”, “It’s too hard”, “It’s too demanding”, “I have no time”, “only men lift weights”….etc  They create a mental block by not being open to trying new things and loose the battle before they even get on the battle field.

Unfortunately, fitness is one of those things where you have no choice but TO WORK HARD. You have to put in the work, to see results and to make it even more unpleasant, it takes a very short time [example 2 days] to gain 5Ibs, but 2 to 3 weeks to lose that same 5Ibs. Your work is cut out for you if you’re thinking of losing 10, 20, 30, 40 pounds. It’s not impossible, but it won’t happen in 30 days if you do it the RIGHT WAY! That said, you MUST be mentally prepared and committed. The journey might not be enjoyable at first but mental readiness and patience will take you a long way. You might even start finding some form of enjoyment along the way with time.

My motivation first comes from myself. I had wanted to be fit for so long and was willing to do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING i needed to. I will not lie and say that living a fit lifestyle is easy. It is WORK! When my alarm goes off at 5am, my first thought still is “Do I really have to go work out today? Maybe I deserve a rest” then I remember that I have NO CHOICE but to get up.  When I crave sweet desserts and want to indulge in them all day, I have to soliloquize and bring my goal in focus….then there are days when soliloquizing only produces an Echo 🙂

The pic below clearly illustrates my thought process as it pertains to fitness 🙂

Granted life has it’s cycles. I have weeks where the moon and stars are aligned and I don’t need anyone to motivate me. I’m on it without a problem! Then there are other days when I just want to crawl under a rock, check out of life momentarily and not be bothered with anything. That’s when I need my motivators and accountability partners the most.

It’s important to have a support system that pushes you when you slow down, reminds you why you MUST eat clean and not miss a workout. Your support system is the wind beneath yours wings and they remind you of your goal and hold you accountable to it.

 Tips on Motivation:

–          Do it For YOU!! Not for your boyfriend/husband or family. Doing it for you will greatly motivate you and keep you grounded even when others talk about you 🙂

–          Establish a group of people who can keep tabs on you and be your Support.

–          Be Committed and ready to work…You have NO CHOICE!

…and my new accountability partner…is YOU who is reading MY blog. I feel accountable to you by wanting to be at my best at all times so I can keep inspiring you.

Stay Focused!

I agree Jane, it first has to begin by you(Me) and to always remember that baby steps each day will lead you to your destination.
For me my focus is always on the end result and any obstacles that come my way will be squashed by my goal.

    Thanks
